Become a Leader

Becoming a Cub Scout leader is a rewarding way to support your child's Scouting experience and contribute to the community. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you through the process:

  1. Complete the Adult Application: Fill out the application form with your personal information and agree to the leadership guidelines and expectations. https://www.egpack118.org/s/Adult-Application.pdf

  2. Submit Fingerprints for a Background Check: You’ll need to provide fingerprints for a background screening as part of the safety process. https://www.egpack118.org/s/Live-Scan-Form.pdf

    1. Find Live Scan Locations here: https://oag.ca.gov/fingerprints/locations?county=Sacramento

  3. Complete Youth Protection Training: This training covers important safety practices, including how to protect children and recognize potential hazards. https://my.scouting.org/tools/my-training/ypt-training

  4. Complete Mandated Reporter Training: This course will teach you how to identify and report signs of abuse or neglect, a crucial responsibility for all adult leaders. https://mandatedreportertraining.com/bsa/

  5. Save Your Certificates: After completing the two training courses, be sure to save your certificates of completion, as they are required for your application.

  6. Submit All Documentation to the Cubmaster: Once you have finished the application and training, provide the Cubmaster with your completed adult application and both training certificates for final approval.

By following these steps, you'll be fully prepared to take on the role of a Cub Scout leader and help guide young Scouts on their adventures.
